The price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Hemas Holdings and Nestle Lanka resulted in ASPI closing in green whilst turnover crossed Rs 779 Mn. S&P SL20 managed to recover from five days of consecutive losses. High net worth and institutional investor participation was witnessed in Nestle Lanka, Panasian Power, Access Engineering, John Keells Holdings and Seylan Bank nonvoting. Mixed interest was observed in Textured Jersey Lanka, Royal Ceramics and Dipped Products whilst retail interest was noted in Ceylon Grain Elevators, Three Acre Farms and The Lanka Hospital Corporation. Meanwhile, foreigners remained active closing as net buyers mainly due to foreign purchasing in John Keells Holdings.
Manufacturing sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Royal Ceramics) whilst the sector index gained 0.65%. The share price of Royal Ceramics closed flat at Rs 112.00.
Banks, Finance and Insurance sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Seylan Bank nonvoting) whilst the sector index increased by 0.02%. The share price of Seylan Bank nonvoting moved up by Rs 1.30 (1.73%) to close at Rs 76.40.
Panasian Power, John Keells Holdings and Nestle Lanka were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Panasian Power closed flat at Rs 3.70. The share price of John Keells Holdings gained Rs 2.60 (1.45%) closing at Rs 181.60 whilst foreign holdings increased by 283,704 shares. The share price of Nestle Lanka has appreciated by Rs 19.10 (0.94%) to close at Rs 2,050.00.
